# Verification code not received

> What to do when the SMS or email sign-in code doesn't arrive

When you sign in, add a team member, or verify a phone number, Allo sends a one-time code by SMS or email. If it doesn't arrive, work through this page.

## Use email sign-in instead

Two-factor authentication cannot be disabled on Allo accounts. But you don't need the SMS code to sign in: you can always sign in with your email address instead.

* The code is sent from [**app@withallo.com**](mailto:app@withallo.com)
* It is valid for **1 hour** and works **once**
* Check Spam, Junk, and Promotions folders if you don't see it

This is the fastest fix when a team member can't receive the SMS code, for example when accepting a team invitation.

## If the SMS code doesn't arrive

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check the phone number">
    Make sure the number includes the country code (for example +1 415 555 0142 or +33 6 12 34 56 78).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Resend the code">
    Tap **Resend code**, then wait at least 30 seconds. Codes can take a moment to arrive depending on your carrier.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check SMS blocking">
    Verify your phone isn't blocking messages from unknown senders, and that your inbox isn't full.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Switch to email">
    If SMS still fails, sign in with your email address instead (see above).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## If the email code doesn't arrive

* Check Spam, Junk, and Promotions folders
* Search your inbox for [**app@withallo.com**](mailto:app@withallo.com)
* Wait 1 to 2 minutes and request a new code
* Make sure you typed your email address correctly

## Still stuck?

[Contact support](/en/support/contact) with:

* The email address of your Allo account
* The phone number that isn't receiving the code

Our team can check the delivery logs on our side and see exactly what happened to each code. International numbers occasionally need this extra step.

<Note>
  This page is about codes sent **by Allo** to sign in or verify your account. If you're trying to receive verification codes from other services (your bank, WhatsApp, Google) **on your Allo number**, that's a different topic: Allo numbers can't reliably receive third-party verification codes. See [Understanding your Allo number](/en/phone-numbers/understanding-allo-number).
